Sunil is a specialist in all areas of healthcare law, ranging from inquests to procurement and commercial sales to advising in relation to compliance with the Care Quality Commission requirements.  He handles all aspects of contentious work including clinical negligence, confidentiality, consent to treatment and other regulatory inquiries.

EMPLOYMENT LAW

Sunil advises clients in relation to the full range of employment law.  In addition he represents clients in employment tribunal proceedings, and has developed a reputation for challenging complex areas of employment law in the Appellate courts, (particularly in cases where he didn't act at first instance). He has experience of cases in the European Court of Human Rights, Supreme Court, the former House of Lords, Court of Appeal, Employment Appeal Tribunal and Employment Tribunal.

ADMINISTRATIVE LAW

Sunil has conducted a number of judicial review cases at the Adminstrative Court. He has made urgent applications in relation to challenging decisions made by public authorities. Sunil is acting in proceedings against the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care and Public Health England in relation to contraventions of Article 2 of the Human Rights Act 1998 in respect of the government's response to Covid-19.

COMMERCIAL LITIGATION

Sunil routinely is called upon to represent the interests of hospitals, healthcare organisations, practices, practitioners and Associations representing various practitioners, skilled nursing facilities and other businesses in a range of litigation. He has extensive experience of alternative dispute resolution procedures including mediation, in addition to High Court matters and successfully applied for injunctions.

PROFESSIONAL DISCIPLINARY

Sunil assists healthcare professionals at all stages of regulatory investigations and at interim and final (Fitness to Practise) hearings before the GMC, GDC, NMC and other regulators. Outside healthcare, Sunil has been called upon to represent accountants in regulatory proceedings brought by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.

SALES & PURCHASES

Sunil assists with practice sales and acquisitions, including advising on the due diligence process as it relates to CQC regstration, regulatory notice and consent, staff transfers and property transfers. ​ Sunil acts for corporate chains as well as individuals. ​
Pharmacist

PROCUREMENT CHALLENGES

Sunil has been consistently tasked since 2010 with examining and challenging questionable procurement decisions, particularly those related to specialist orthodontic services. ​ He has successfully identified manifest errors and violations of the Public Contract Regulations 2015 in various procurement processes. The contracting authorities have taken note of Sunil's submissions which have led to his clients being awarded contracts, even without the need to commence legal proceedings in Court.
